I came across this picture, and I love it. Wouldn't this solve some of the rigidity problems of the possible convertible GT86? Storing the top could still be an issue, but it seems less complicated than storing a folding ragtop. Jeeps get away with having no hardtop storage, so maybe this could too?
On second thought... T-TOPS!!!!

Have you seen this pic that wasn't done in MS Paint?

Gorgeous! Though that one looks to eliminate the back seats. The one in my post was the first that popped up when I GIS'd "brz convertible" for kicks. I think retaining the back seats is a priority, which is why I almost think T-tops would work better.

Why would you want to save the back seats? They're good milk crates, that's about it.

I just think taking them away sort of makes it a different car. My parents owned a Trans Am T-top, and I rode in the back seats all the time as a child. Had it not had back seats, my family would have fallen apart! Or my parents would have spent more time together...
But, backseats also lower insurance rates. And I think a 2-seater would compete with that new Toyota concept (which I think is a two-seater?).

I grew up riding around in this bad boy; the nostalgia is strong.

I wish my parents would have had something that cool when I was little!

Ha, yeah, it was a treat. They had a Plymouth Satellite and '67 Mustang prior to this. Since they split up my dad finally was able to buy his dream car, an Avanti. It's in my blood.

So you want an N/A Supra for mid 20's? There's plenty of those around. Just play'n. I definitely find T-Tops to be superior to rag or folding hard tops in every single way.

How about this: Targa/T-top two seater. Change the backseat into a storage bench with somewhere to attach the targa when not in use. Think CRZ backseat-that-isnt-a-backseat-because-us-regulations-suck

Targa or T-Top BRZ would be awesome. Also ditch the rear seats and make it mid-engined :P

I still think t-tops would work well... Just store them in the trunk.

I think I actually just want a t-top trans am, in Japanese form (cheap, small, 4cyl).

If there was a way to secure them, sure. Don't want to throw it into the twisties and have the t-tops flying all around the trunk.

I think most cars have a locking mechanism that locks the tops into a slot using the same handle that locks them into the roof when they're not removed.
